At first I thought J.R. McAllister would sign a minor league deal with team of his choosing, a draft pick in the 2009 or 2010 Major League Baseball Draft, or played for the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Instead the road to the majors for McAllister will begin with the American Defenders of the Can-Am (Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball) League. McAllister will report to Nashua on May16 to help his new team prepared for the regular season opener against Worcester on May 28.
For all you hornet fans that don't know J.R. McAllister here are his career numbers during his
two years at Delaware State:
- Appeared in 34 games with Nine wins with a tough ERA of 6.62
- 170 career strikeouts (ranked fourth all-time in Hornet strikeouts)
- 2007 2nd team All-Team MEAC selective
